In the year Cascais is European Capital of Democracy, this guided walking tour of Parede reveals the town's role in the municipality's republican history: the Republican Commission of the Municipality of Cascais was born here in 1908, and it was from Parede that, on 5 October 1910, the procession set off to bring Cascais the news of the Republic's proclamation.
