The Museu da Música Portuguesa exhibits 25 engravings by Maria Helena Vieira da Silva created to illustrate "L'Inclémence lointaine", René Char's anthology of 52 poems, alongside documents from Fernando Lopes-Graça's estate.
The exhibition "Gravuras de Vieira da Silva para 'L'Inclémence lointaine' de René Char" brings together 25 engravings by Maria Helena Vieira da Silva, created to illustrate "L'Inclémence lointaine", an anthology of 52 poems by René Char. Considered a significant work in the painter's graphic output, this set reveals the deep artistic bond between the two creators. The show also highlights the role of Fernando Lopes-Graça in promoting Vieira da Silva in Portugal, notably through the organisation, in 1966, of an exhibition dedicated to the painter at the Academia de Amadores de Música. Besides the copy of "L'Inclémence lointaine" that belonged to Lopes-Graça, other documents from the composer's estate, such as catalogues with dedications from the artist, complete the exhibition. The show reveals the richness and diversity of the collections of the Documentation Centre of the Museu da Música Portuguesa.
