Grupo Compay Segundo keeps alive the musical legacy of Compay Segundo and the Cuban son, with reinterpretations of classics such as 'Chan Chan' and 'Guantanamera'. In March 2027 the group returns to Portugal, playing at Aula Magna in Lisbon on 7 March, on a run that also stops at Casa da Música in Porto and Casino Estoril.

Brief Introduction There are songs that cross borders, generations and decades without losing their identity. That is the spirit that continues to live on in Grupo Compay Segundo, guardian of one of the most authentic expressions of traditional Cuban music. With Compay Segundo's legacy as a starting point, the group keeps the flame of the Cuban son alive, bringing audiences the energy, the tradition and the soul of Cuba. Synopsis Grupo Compay Segundo keeps alive the musical heritage of Compay Segundo, one of the most emblematic figures of the Cuban son and one of those most responsible for taking Cuba's traditional music to stages all over the world. After his death, in 2003, his stage companions carried on his legacy, preserving the essence of a sound deeply bound to Cuban history and cultural identity. Through reinterpretations of great classics of the Cuban songbook, the group celebrates the son, a genre born in eastern Cuba from the fusion of Spanish and African musical traditions. With its engaging rhythms, guitars, voices and the characteristic sound of traditional Cuban instruments, the show transports the audience into the musical universe that made Compay Segundo an international reference. 'Chan Chan', 'Guantanamera', 'Macusa', 'El Beso Discreto', 'La Negra Tomasa' and 'Juramento' are some of the melodies that are part of this encounter with Cuban music and culture, in a show that crosses generations and keeps the spirit of Compay Segundo alive. In March 2027, Grupo Compay Segundo returns to Portugal for four performances: on 3 March, at Casa da Música, in Porto; on 4 March, at Casino Estoril; and on 7 March, at Aula Magna, in Lisbon.
