The story begins several nights earlier, when he is told that his father is a tikbalang (half horse, half man) and the latter disappears from his life the next day. Shortly afterwards, Lukas' body turns red and he wonders whether he really is half-animal. The village goes into a frenzy when the film crew arrives. Everyone tries to get a role in the film.
