Full details

Brief Introduction Heroína A band of meteoric emergence, Heroína carries in its name a sense of bravery, perfectly aligned with the most visceral intentions and the promises yet to be fulfilled around the voice-guitar-bass-drums square. Captured and mixed by Kellzo and mastered by Carlos Nascimento, this first album by the Lisbon-based quartet manages the feat of translating, both faithfully and sublimely, the essence of everything that has been delivered on stage during this (still) brief joint existence. With a past and, fundamentally, a present that embraces hardcore, the most thunderous rock, the deconstruction of the canon and the most sincere song, the four benevolent miscreants of Heroína evoke those other wanderings not as a mere summary of them but as another music consummated by instinct, knowledge and stubbornness. Belief in the most basic and honest foundations of rock as a psychoactive to find beauty in the grotesque, transcendence in the screech, the life that throbs in that irascible rattle of the mundane. They are, if we align ourselves by a kind of cartography and historical continuum, the closest thing this country has ever embodied of the deviant spirit of Skin Graft - U.S. Maple, Melt Banana or Arab on Radar - in 11 (generally) very brief firecrackers, hurled without shame and with total abandon in the form of songs intensely lived=hallucinated in the sinuous riffs of Martim's expansive guitar, in the elusive pulse of Abras's bass, in the blast beats and sway of Vasco's drums and in the open-air clamor of the voice and prosaic lyricism of Jarda, the first and last of the town's noise rock romantics. From the initial minute of intemperate fury of 'Corre', to the memorable stop-and-go of 'Escarro', passing through the groggy winds of 'Lavanda', the staggering of 'Heroína', the electrified vertigo over the abyss of 'Vigilante' up to the final headbanging with 'Amigo Padre', 'Heroína' sets about keeping pace with the present day, as one who sets fire to the stoic foundations of the past, to hurl oneself with faith into the void that remains, toward another life. ~ Iguanas Iguanas is the duo of Leonardo Bindilatti and Lourenço Crespo - lifelong friends and co-founders of Cafetra Records. After growing up together among bands, rehearsal rooms and bedrooms improvised as studios, in 2010 they decided to drop the traditional rock format and experiment with other ways of making music. In Olaias, in Lisbon, they created a small domestic laboratory where everything happened fast: beats on the computer, keys, voices and guitars recorded on an old four-track Fostex. It was in that room that, in 2013, Iguanas took shape. ~ Prado Prado arises from a collective desire to externalize the anger generated by the unfolding of the present and by the wounds of the past. Through restless guitars, resounding rhythms and torn voices, they share their experiences, traumas and hopes. Between aggressive explosions and introspective, cathartic passages, the quintet seeks to create a space where one can speak openly about systems of oppression and violence. Show original (Portuguese)
