Synopsis LIBERDADE, MULHER DE ABRIL A show in 3 episodes Within the celebrations of 50 years of Democracy, the Ministry of Culture and the Commemorative Commission of the Fiftieth Anniversary of 25 April 1974 decided to extend an invitation to the theatre companies that were born or consolidated during the period of the Revolution, so that they would create new shows or revive old productions and develop complementary activities, in order to contribute to public awareness of the role theatre played in our democratic transition. The works presented through this initiative will be part of the Official Programme of the Commemorations. A Barraca answered the challenge with the proposal of presenting a reflection in which it celebrates the changes in the life, the mentalities, the ambitions, the cultural, social and economic evolution of the Portuguese woman made possible by the deepest social transformation recorded in contemporary history: the April Revolution. This enormous Portuguese victory is highlighted here through the evocation of the life and work of some of the women who, in their various areas of public influence or simply through the example of their own lives, fought to allow Portuguese women to begin sharing the centre of history. It is a reflection on the Portuguese feminine, on how far it has come and on what still remains to be done. Far from being a eulogy, this show will be more of a warning about the fragility of our achievements and how much we must defend them. We decided to divide it into 3 episodes - presented to the public as a sharing of the working process - during the period the Portuguese State dedicated to the commemorations of the 50 years of the April Revolution of 1974, between 2024 and 2026. Sinopse LIBERDADE, MULHER DE ABRIL Um espectáculo em 3 episódios No âmbito das celebrações de 50 anos de Democracia, o Ministério da Cultura e a Comissão Comemorativa do Cinquentenário do 25 de abril de 1974 decidiram dirigir um convite às companhias de teatro que nasceram ou se consolidaram no período da Revolução, para que criem novos espetáculos ou reponham produções antigas e desenvolvam atividades complementares, no sentido de contribuir para a consciência pública do papel que o teatro desempenhou na nossa transição democrática. Os trabalhos apresentados por esta via irão integrar o Programa Oficial das Comemorações. A Barraca respondeu ao desafio com a proposta de apresentar uma reflexão onde celebra as mudanças na vida, nas mentalidades, nas ambições, na evolução cultural, social e económica da mulher portuguesa permitidas pela mais profunda transformação social que a história contemporânea registou: a Revolução de Abril. Essa enorme vitória portuguesa é realçada aqui pela evocação da vida e obra de algumas das mulheres que, nas suas diversas áreas de influência pública ou apenas com o exemplo das suas próprias vidas, lutaram para permitir à mulher portuguesa começar a partilhar o centro da história. É uma reflexão sobre o feminino português, até onde ele já chegou e o que está por andar. Longe de ser um elogio este espectáculo será mais um alerta sobre a fragilidade das nossas conquistas e o quanto as devemos defender.
