Cloud Nothings

It's the songs. No matter how much talk is spent unraveling the progression of the Cleveland group and the poetic, harmonic, formal qualities gathered and/or lost over nine albums, it's in the memorable trail of the song that their essence endures. Anthemic, lived with heart on sleeve and the urgency of the words that break free, without ever falling into the populist trap (lol, Arcade Fire), but crafted for full-throated chorus and a fixed place in the indie collective consciousness: 'Wasted Days', 'Modern Act', 'On an Edge' or, of course, 'I'm Not Part of Me' in a long list that the most die-hard stans will always shuffle in the memory of that moment when the world seemed full of possibilities or Dylan Baldi's words reflected that college crush. A fundamental part of a possible indie lore that can be born anywhere and shaped the character of Superchunk, Built to Spill or Wavves. Without dwelling on that past, germinated in the lo-fi solitude of a first self-titled album and made real from the canonical 'Attack on Memory', the band led by Baldi, flanked by his longtime sidekick Jayson Gerycz on drums and multi-instrumentalist Chris Brown, continues to match step with their own songwriting instincts with 'Final Summer', their first album on Pure Noise after years of militancy on Carpark. Without deviating too much from a formula outlined in the aforementioned 'Attack on Memory' and definitively stamped on 'Here and Nowhere Else' — a blend of the energy of Hüsker Dü's 'New Day Rising' with the pop instinct of The Replacements — with the necessary twists and turns to keep things fresh over a discography where the ragged dirt of the guitars and the propulsion of the drums served a very catchy sensibility, 'Final Summer' brightens the production and, consequently, the aura of Cloud Nothings in 10 songs that evoke that naturalness of someone who has nothing left to prove. And they don't. So let's sing. BS.

EZHEL finally makes his Portuguese debut with a one-off concert on the TOUR 2026, at LAV, Lisboa ao Vivo, on 11 October 2026. The Turkish artist presents a repertoire spanning his career, between hip-hop, trap, reggae and references to his country's musical tradition.

Full details

EZHEL will finally make his debut in Portugal with a one-off concert under his own name, part of the TOUR 2026, which stops at LAV, Lisboa ao Vivo on 11 October 2026. This first presentation on national territory has a particular symbolic value, not only because it marks the artist's arrival before a new audience, but also because it places Lisbon on an international path that has been consolidating his presence outside Turkey. Moreover, the date comes at a moment when his work is establishing itself as a space for open dialogue, where different musical languages coexist without hierarchies and where artistic identity is built from the conscious crossing of references, contexts and experiences. A decisive figure in the recent transformation of Turkish urban music, EZHEL has built an artistic career marked by the refusal of watertight compartments. Hip hop, trap, reggae and deep references to the musical tradition of his country coexist in a language of his own, where writing plays a central role and sound production serves both the urgency of the present and a conscious relationship with the cultural heritage from which he starts. This approach earned him recognition that quickly went beyond the context of his homeland, projecting him as one of the most relevant voices of his generation. Over the past decade, EZHEL has asserted an artistic identity distinguished by directness and by the ability to translate personal experiences into shareable narratives. His songs address social issues, inner conflicts, displacement, belonging and freedom, without filters or simplifications. It is precisely this honesty that sustains the intense connection he maintains with his audience, both in the studio and on stage. Unsurprisingly, EZHEL's concerts reflect the same logic: direct, physically engaging performances, but also open to moments of restraint and introspection. The performative dimension does not override the songs; rather, it serves to reinforce the weight of the words and the atmosphere created around them. For all these reasons, the TOUR 2026 asserts itself as a coherent continuation of EZHEL's journey, bringing to the stage a repertoire that travels through different moments of his career and clearly reflects the artistic point at which the musician finds himself, in a musical context increasingly attentive to hybrid languages and transnational circulations. It is within this framework that LAV, Lisboa ao Vivo hosts the Turkish artist's debut in Portugal, in a city historically marked by the crossing of cultural and sonic references, offering the right setting for a concert based on diversity, dialogue and sharing.
