Brief Introduction Tea Course With Luís Mendonça de Carvalho DATE | Saturday | 26 September TIME | 14:00 to 18:00 PARTICIPANTS | Min. 14 Max. 25 PRICE | €45 (includes distribution of several samples) The course covers various theoretical and practical aspects of tea, from the botanical characteristics of the different types of tea, its cultivation and processing, to the properties and preparation methods. Theoretical Program Botanical characteristics Social history of tea (Asia/Europe) World tea production Cultivation and post-harvest processing Types of tea (black, green, oolong, white, yellow, pu-erh, flavoured) Chemical compounds of tea Pharmacological properties/tea and health Traditional uses Tea accessories (ceramics, porcelain, silver) Practical Program Tea preparation methods Each tea will be introduced with an explanation of its origin, manufacture and organoleptic properties. Luís Mendonça de Carvalho Biologist (UTAD), master in plant biochemistry (University of Lisbon), PhD in plant systematics and morphology (University of Coimbra), visiting scholar at Harvard University, coordinating professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Beja, director of the Botanical Museum of IPBeja and holder of the UNESCO Chair in Ethnobotany. In case of cancellation: A full refund of the registration fee will be made when cancellation is communicated up to 8 working days before the activity. After that date, a refund can only be considered if the place is filled or in situations of illness, accident, or other duly proven force majeure.
