OPEN CITIES ACCELERATOR 2026

Monday 2 November – Tuesday 10 November

Centro Cultural de Cascais, Cascais

The Open Cities Accelerator is an international film project development program that seeks to explore new technologies to achieve more ambitious projects, preserving the artistic vision and creative control of filmmakers. Created by Open Cities International, the program combines virtual sessions with an in-person residency in Cascais, between November 2 and 10. The residency includes workshops, mentoring, case studies, and hackathons with technicians from today's largest technology companies, ensuring that each project culminates in a more ambitious and sustainable production design, thanks to the union of various creative and technological areas. In parallel with the residency, several world-renowned filmmakers gather in Cascais to present three public masterclasses on November 4, 6 and 8: Jon Kilik (producer of the Hunger Games saga, and of filmmakers such as Spike Lee, Steven Soderbergh, or Brian de Palma); Erik Jendresen (creator of the Band of Brothers series and screenwriter of the latest Mission Impossible films); Dana Stevens (screenwriter of “The Woman King” and producer of the series “Reckless”); Ted Hope (renowned producer, responsible for Amazon's fiction department, for which he received 19 Oscar nominations); Anne Carey (producer nominated numerous times by the Academy, responsible for “20th Century Women”, “The Savages” and “The American”) and Amy Robinson (producer of “After Hours” by Martin Scorsese and “Julie & Julia” by Nora Ephron). November 4 | “By Any Means Necessary” with Jon Kilik, Joana Vicente and Jason Kliot. November 6 | “Where the Story Begins” with Erik Jendresen and Dana Stevens. November 8 | “The Scenes that Changed our Lives” with Ted Hope, Anne Carey and Amy Robinson. Masterclasses: Free entry, upon prior registration HERE. Masterclasses in English, without translation. Information: [email protected]. Organization: Open Cities International, with the support of the Cascais Municipal Council.
