Razor in the Flesh reconfigures Plínio Marcos's classic through the lens of migrant experiences in Portugal, exposing contemporary mechanisms of exclusion in a tenement room.

Synopsis Razor in the Flesh reconfigures Plínio Marcos's classic in light of migrant experiences in Portugal. Written in 1967, amid the repression of the Brazilian military dictatorship, the original text is a landmark of marginal theatre, marked by direct denunciation of social violence and refusal of dominant moral and aesthetic conventions. Censored at the time, the play brought historically invisible characters to the stage. This creation operates like a razor, opening fissures in Plínio Marcos's text, taking it as living matter and introducing contemporary perspectives, new dramaturgies and migrant experiences. Àkila's staging summons black and dissident bodies to a tenement room where precariousness dictates the rules. Between the housing crisis and the curtailment of rights, this reinterpretation exposes contemporary mechanisms of exclusion, turning the stage into a space of political intervention and aesthetic confrontation.
