Pândiga emerges from an encounter with Gil Vicente's Farsa das Ciganas, questioning 500 years of history and Europe's promises to those who come from outside.

Synopsis Pândiga is born from an encounter with Farsa das Ciganas, by Gil Vicente, which in 1521 reported the arrival of the Roma people to Portugal. Five years later, with the promulgation of yet another repressive law by D. João III, it became clear that the performance of the play was important in constructing an imaginary that fueled suspicions, fears and exclusions. Today, five centuries later, the companies UMCOLETIVO (Portugal) and ACTOS ÍNTIMOS (Spain) return to the text to question it in light of the 500 years of life that separate us from it: do those who come from outside still dream of this old Europe, a place of dreams and possibilities, even when many of those who live here have stopped believing in it? Pândiga is a late and sincere party, a practice of encounter learned from the Roma people. Talk with artists on July 3.
