L’Arpeggiata and Christina Pluhar celebrate the creative power and artistic legacy of 17th-century women composers such as Barbara Strozzi and Francesca Caccini, in a program featuring striking works and tragic and comic narratives.

Wonder Women L’Arpeggiata and Christina Pluhar With Wonder Women, L’Arpeggiata and Christina Pluhar propose a celebration of the creative force, expressiveness, and artistic legacy of women over the centuries. At the center of this program are striking works by 17th-century women composers such as Barbara Strozzi, Francesca Caccini, and Antonia Bembo. For a long time relegated to the background compared to their male contemporaries, these creators played a fundamental role in the affirmation of a singular musical language, marked by boldness, sensitivity, and originality. The soloists Céline Scheen, Benedetta Mazzucato, and Vincenzo Capezzuto interpret tragic and comic narratives populated by passionate heroines, mystical saints, enchanting figures, and ordinary characters confronted with the universal themes of love, destiny, and devotion.
