Synopsis Barbara Forever Brydie O’Connor (USA, 2026, 102’) Doc. English original, Portuguese subtitles. M/16 Barbara Hammer (1939, 2019, Los Angeles) was a feminist filmmaker, visual artist and lesbian activist, with a pioneering career of more than fifty years dedicated to reflections on female sexuality, gender and, in a more recent phase, illness and mortality. Her 92 films, mostly experimental documentary shorts, the first of which were made in 1968, earned her the title of mother of experimental queer cinema, with works that are today essential in the lesbian and queer film canon. Barbara Forever is based on the artist's life experience, including a succession of lovers, to portray a filmography as deeply personal and intimate as it is attentive to the broader feminist and lesbian political and social movements of her time. Winner of the Teddy Award for Best Documentary, Brydie O'Connor's film is a passionate and inspiring tribute that gives new audiences an authentic view of Hammer's work, while awakening a deeper interest in the rest of her filmography.
