Synopsis "Come from Away" is a musical created by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. It is based on the events that took place in the town of Gander, in Newfoundland (Canada), in the week following the September 11, 2001 attacks. During that period, with US airspace closed, 38 planes carrying almost 7,000 passengers were diverted to Gander. The town's residents took these people in, putting them up, feeding them and supporting them until they could continue their journey.
