Multimedia concert by the Rumos Ensemble trio celebrating Portugal, its musical, natural and architectural heritage, with new arrangements of regional music and new footage from various regions of the country.

Brief Introduction “Tocando Portugal” is the name of the multimedia concert conceived and performed by the trio Rumos Ensemble. The first volume of this project premiered in 2016 and was presented in 22 countries across four continents, totaling almost a hundred concerts, becoming the most international national project of an erudite nature in the last decade. Continuing the work developed in the projects “Tocando José Afonso” and “Tocando Carlos Paredes”, and marking the trio’s 11 years of activity, we present in 2026 – with the support of the Direção-Geral das Artes – the multimedia concert “Tocando Portugal - Volume II”. With a renewed look at the country, new arrangements of regional music and new footage, the show celebrates Portugal, its musical, natural and architectural heritage. The project will be presented nationally and internationally, in large urban centers and lower-density territories, promoting territorial cohesion and a decentralized cultural offer. The musical works, which now gain new life, were selected from fundamental historical and ethnological collections and archives: the original recordings of Michel Giacometti; the sound, musical and visual archives of RTP, the National Museum of Ethnology, the Fado Museum and the Xarabanda Association (Madeira). The new arrangements of the musical works are by violinist and composer Anne Victorino d’Almeida and pianist and composer João Vasco. In this multimedia concert, the works recreated for a trio of piano, violin and clarinet, dialogue on stage with unprecedented footage by João Vasco – also an award-winning director and videographer – captured in all Portuguese regions. Tocando Portugal invites a journey through our memory, heritage and traditions, crossing the identity and uniqueness of the Portuguese regions with contemporary national creation.
