Siddhartha

Saturday 30 January – Sunday 31 January

Centro Cultural de Belém, Lisbon

A musical theatre production by Lisaboa Houbrechts, based on the novel by Hermann Hesse, with music by New York composer Caroline Shaw and English translation by Martine Bom. Protected from all suffering, Siddhartha sees his life defined from the very beginning. However, an inner voice leads him to set off in search of another destiny. Along his journey, he is confronted with different experiences until he finds meaning in the contradictions of human existence. The character created by Hermann Hesse does not correspond to the historical Buddha, but rather to a man marked by doubts, frailties and desires... Audio-described session on 31 January.
