Thirty years later, Georges Bizet premiered 'his' Carmen in Paris and, since then, it has been one of the most frequently staged operas in the world. The story of the gypsy woman who does not hesitate to die in the name of freedom and love remains one of the most impressive and enduring contemporary myths dealing with the mysterious nature of Woman. Over the years, Carmen, revisited by countless directors, has gained new facets and readings.
