The Francisco Fino Gallery presents One Million Points of Light, the first Alfredo Jaar solo show in Portugal, bringing together three fundamental works that reflect on the politics of the image, historical memory and the spectator's ethical responsibility.

The exhibition brings together for the first time in Portugal three fundamental works by the artist, proposing a reflection on the politics of the image, historical memory and the ethical responsibility of the spectator. The Francisco Fino Gallery presents One Million Points of Light, the first solo exhibition by Alfredo Jaar at the gallery. Curated by Maurizio Bortolotti, the exhibition gathers a selection of works that articulate some of the central questions underlying Jaar's practice: the politics of the image, the ethics of representation and the responsibility of the spectator in a world saturated with visual information. Over more than four decades, Jaar has investigated how images shape our understanding of reality and mediate our relationship with human suffering, violence and historical memory. At a time when images circulate incessantly through global communication systems and social networks, his work resists spectacle and the urgency of the immediate, proposing instead a space of reflection, silence and ethical confrontation. Rather than reproducing the rhetoric of the mass media, Jaar strips the image of excess and restores its human dimension. Tuesday to Friday, from 12h to 19h, Saturday, from 14h to 19h.
