Tonight We Shout is a cycle of performed readings of theatrical texts, promoted by Companhia Cepa Torta, celebrating its 10th anniversary. This edition presents 'Vitória' by Pau Miró, about a widow in 1950s Barcelona who discovers the need to fight.

Brief Introduction Tonight We Shout is a feast of performed readings of theatrical texts, promoted by Companhia Cepa Torta, which in 2026 celebrates 10 years of existence. Held in different venues in Lisbon and Lagos, and with a wide range of performers under a common artistic direction, the cycle asserts itself as an annual celebration of the theatrical text aloud. Synopsis In 1950s Barcelona, at the height of Franco's dictatorship, Vitória, a quiet barber's widow, sees her small world of lentils and brooms crumble. For the first time, after years of "exemplary" behavior, lies, corruption and censorship unfold before her eyes. In a sequence of coincidences, she discovers the need to fight and act. In the slow unveiling of the fiction in which everyone lives, struggles are revealed in a tangle of fear, loss and desire: for those who love, for love, or for freedom. In a poetic and disenchanted dramaturgy, Pau Miró brings us the past as one looks to the future. As one who cannot forget to fight. Because if the fist is the most visible form of resistance, the trigger always comes from a story. Freedom of thought will always be the ultimate refuge and above all, it will be worth fighting for.
