The Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, conducted by Enrico Onofri, performs Beethoven's Violin Concerto and Symphony No. 3 'Eroica', with Sergej Krylov as soloist.

Synopsis Beethoven's 'Eroica' marked a historical turning point by elevating the symphony to a large-scale epic drama that stages the heroic designs of struggle, crisis, and triumphant overcoming. It added to the score the affirmation of ideals, substantiating narrative conceptions. In short, it transformed the way of listening to and understanding music. Completed two years later, in 1806, the Violin Concerto did not have the same immediate reach. Several decades had to pass, but it became a warhorse of the violin repertoire. Leading the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa will be two great violinists: Enrico Onofri, this time as conductor, a role in which he also excels, and Sergej Krylov, who lends his refined virtuosity to the solo part.
