Synopsis “Come from Away” is a musical created by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. It is based on the events that took place in the town of Gander, in Newfoundland (Canada), in the week following the 11 September 2001 attacks. During that period, with US airspace closed, 38 planes carrying almost 7,000 passengers were diverted to Gander. The town's residents welcomed these people, housing them, feeding them and supporting them until they could continue their journey.
