Animated comedy satirizing conversion therapies and the far right, following Jim, a bear influencer, and Lucien, his secret admirer.

Synopsis Jim Queen Marco Nguyen, Nicholas Athané (France, 2026, 85’) Animation. Original in French, subtitled in Portuguese and English. M/16 AIDS has always produced metaphors, as Susan Sontag noted back in 1989, and continues to do so, three decades after the use of triple therapy. A raunchy and intelligent comedy, premiered at the Séances de Minuit in Cannes, Jim Queen addresses a new epidemic: “Héterose”, which turns gays straight. An open critique of conversion therapies and far-right ideologies, this “incorrect” animation has as its (supposed) hero, Jim, a bear, muscle queen and influencer, struck by the virus, which makes him lose muscle, followers, and his way. To his rescue (and gay life) comes Lucien, a twink and his secret admirer, in the closet, son of the... Minister of Health, involved in the network that created this virus in a lab. More metaphors. As the film is also a critique of stereotypes and homophobia within the community itself, the one rejected by it for his appearance (Lucien) is the one who saves it from heterosexuality, forming a moralizing romantic pair with Jim. In 1987, Leo Bersani asked, “Is the Rectum a Grave?”. Here, it is in Lucien's ass that salvation resides, in that hilarious final sequence we won't soon forget.
