LAST SATURDAY Tour - From Warehouse to Museum

Saturday 31 October · 11:30

Pavilhão Julião Sarmento, Lisbon

Brief Introduction Located in Belém, next to the Tagus, the Pavilhão Julião Sarmento building had a previous life. We will understand how the architect João Luís Carrilho da Graça, friend of the artist Julião Sarmento, transformed this former industrial warehouse into a new art centre for the city, home to a unique Collection and a place for a cultural programme in constant dialogue with contemporaneity. In this session of the activity From Warehouse to Museum, we will visit the exhibitions on display at PAV-JS, reflecting on the roles that architecture can play in the conception, assembly and realisation of each exhibition project, transforming them and being transformed by them.
