Synopsis From 25 September 2026 to 31 January 2027, MUDE will host an exhibition entirely dedicated to the newly incorporated “Tereza Seabra Collection”, celebrating a donation that extraordinarily enriches the contemporary jewellery core of the Museum’s collection. Scheduled to coincide with and integrate the official programme of the 3rd Lisbon Contemporary Jewellery Biennial, this exhibition does not present itself as an anthology of Tereza Seabra’s (b. 1944) creative work, but rather as a mirror of her vision as a collector, author, teacher and gallerist — one of the most charismatic figures, inseparable from the consolidation of contemporary jewellery in Portugal. The reception of this collection embodies a museological strategy outlined since 2011 for the recognition of jewellery as a specific expression of design. This path, which culminated in 2019 with the creation of a public collection of contemporary jewellery at the Museum, now gains a new scale with the integration of this legacy into the municipal heritage of Lisbon. This “closed collection”, assembled by Tereza Seabra since the late 1960s, comprises more than 300 works and represents a visual map of her professional affinities. Through the eyes of more than 190 authors (Portuguese and foreign), the exhibition traces the global evolution of contemporary jewellery over the last six decades (1970-2025). At the same time, it reveals a collection that preserves the collector’s rigorous aesthetic criteria and the inseparable crossing of her multifaceted professional areas spanning creation, pedagogy and research, celebrating contemporary jewellery in its fullness. Sinopse De 25 setembro 2026 a 31 janeiro 2027 o MUDE terá uma exposição inteiramente dedicada à recém-incorporada «Coleção Tereza Seabra», celebrando a sua doação que enriquece de forma extraordinária o núcleo de joalharia contemporânea do Acervo do Museu. Programada para coincidir e integrar a programação oficial da 3.ª Bienal de Joalharia Contemporânea de Lisboa, esta exposição não se assume como uma antologia do trabalho criativo de Tereza Seabra (n. 1944), mas sim como um espelho da sua visão enquanto colecionadora, autora, professora e galerista , uma das figuras mais carismáticas e indissociáveis da consolidação da joalharia contemporânea em Portugal. O acolhimento deste conjunto consubstancia uma estratégia museológica delineada desde 2011 para o reconhecimento da joalharia como expressão especifica do design. Este percurso, que culminou em 2019 com a criação de uma coleção pública de joalharia contemporânea no Museu ganha agora uma nova escala com a integração deste legado no património municipal de Lisboa. Esta «coleção fechada», reunida por Tereza Seabra desde o final da década de 1960, tem mais de 300 obras e representa um mapa visual das suas cumplicidades profissionais. Através do olhar dos mais de 190 autores (portugueses e estrangeiros), a exposição permite traçar a evolução global da joalharia contemporânea ao longo das últimas seis décadas (1970-2025). Ao mesmo tempo, desvenda-se uma coleção que preserva os critérios estéticos rigorosos da colecionadora e o cruzamento indissociável entre as suas multifacetadas áreas profissionais que abrangem a criação, a pedagogia e a investigação, celebrando a joalharia contemporânea na sua plenitude.
