On the occasion of his piece RedSkyFalls, on view at the Portuguese Pavilion in Venice at the Biennale 2026, Alexandre Estrela presents a series of Réplicas. These Réplicas, which function as sentinels, are characterized by alerting to high-risk seismic activity in geographically distant locations. For Galeria Zé dos Bois, a Réplica was conceived in which fruit flies, or sentinels, respond in real time to nearby and distant seismic activity through a pre-digital sensitivity. Under close observation, we can recognize in the behaviour of these artificial sentinels the infra-signals of the subterranean disturbances that, from time to time, erupt in this ecosystem. The sentinel flies, enclosed in appropriate logos of the precursor of the process-poem Wlademir Dias-Pino, wander and react in synchrony to the seismic activity of planet Earth each time it declares a tremor. The network of active Réplicas in partner institutions during the Venice exhibition period includes the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts, REDCAT, Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater, the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI), the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) at UNAM and Galeria Zé dos Bois.

A propósito da sua peça RedSkyFalls , em exibição no Pavilhão de Portugal em Veneza na Biennale 2026, Alexandre Estrela apresenta uma série de Réplicas . Estas Réplicas , que funcionam como sentinelas, caracterizam-se por alertar a actividade sísmica de alto risco em locais geograficamente distantes. Para a Galeria Zé dos Bois foi considerada uma Réplica onde moscas-da-fruta ou sentinelas respondem em tempo real à atividade sísmica próxima e distante através de uma sensibilidade pré-digital. Sob observação atenta, podemos reconhecer no comportamento destas sentinelas artificiais os infra-sinais das perturbações subterrâneas que, de tempo a tempo, irrompem neste ecossistema. As moscas sentinelas, encerradas em logótipos apropriados do precursor do poema-processo Wlademir Dias-Pino, deambulam e reagem em sincronia à actividade sísmica do planeta Terra cada vez que este declara um abalo. A rede de Réplicas activas em instituições parceiras durante o período da exibição em Veneza inclui o Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts, o REDCAT, Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater, o Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI), o Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) da UNAM e a Galeria Zé dos Bois.
