Commented concert by Susana Henriques. Lisbon Music Academy. Between Samurai and Violins proposes a musical journey inspired by the life and thought of Shinichi Suzuki, a major figure in 20th-century music pedagogy. Born into a lineage of samurai and a member of the family that owned the world's largest instrument factory, his path was marked by a late discovery of the violin, by his time in Berlin, by his friendship with Einstein and by the formulation of the 'mother tongue' principle. This concert celebrates a legacy that combines discipline, listening and affection, revealing music as a language of formation, sharing and growth. Between tradition and innovation, this concert promotes an immersive experience, capable of transforming performers and audiences on both sides of the stage.

Líquen presents their debut album 'Ontem, Hoje ou Amanhã' and Mafalda Costa (as MAFALDA) performs her Portuguese-language debut 'Gosto Muito de Estar Aqui', in a night of alternative pop and contemporary folk at Casa Capitão.

Full details

Líquen is born from the imagination of Constança Ochoa, a singer and composer from Coimbra. With a sound that navigates between pop, electronic, jazz and traditional Portuguese music, the project evolved from solo work to a collective band dimension, shared with Rui Jorge Lopes, Leonardo Patrício and Luís Pedro Keating. After releasing the EP 'I' in 2024 and appearing at festivals NOS Alive and Vodafone Paredes de Coura, Líquen now brings to the stage their debut album 'Ontem, Hoje ou Amanhã'. MAFALDA, the artistic name of singer and composer Mafalda Costa, is one of the most magnetic and unique voices in new Portuguese music. After debuting as Mathilda with the acclaimed 'Changing Colours' (2019), the artist now embraces her birth name as an artistic identity and opens a new phase in Portuguese with the debut album 'Gosto Muito de Estar Aqui'. Uniting alternative pop with contemporary folk, the album is an ode to life and rebirth. An intimate and luminous work that gains dimension live alongside André Júlio Turquesa and Iúri Oliveira, creative and stage partners. There are no seated or reserved places at Casa Capitão concerts. To guarantee a good position facing the stage, it is advisable to arrive early. And be ready to spend an hour or two standing.
