Casa Capitão Beato · Lisbon

Danish-Dutch duo Miaw present their deconstructed club pop with influences of UK bass, shoegaze and 90s trip-hop, in a standing concert at Casa Capitão.

Full details

miaw (DK/NL) is a cross-pop duo presenting deconstructed club music with influences from UK bass, venturing into the territory of shoegaze and 90s trip-hop. Comprising Frederik Fog and Liza Dries, from Denmark and the Netherlands respectively, the two producers use fast breakbeats, arpeggiated synthesizers and unconventional sampling techniques to create a sound that sits at the intersection of a remix and a pop song. Following their debut EP 'My Petswan', the independently released single 'moving in' is already generating impact, having achieved over 100,000 streams in its first week and been picked up by stations and publications such as P6 Beat (DK), Nina Protocol (Staff Picks) (USA), The Needle Drop (USA), HighClouds Magazine (BE), TURTLENEK (DE), Mondosonoro (ES), 808 Radio (ES), Pamplona Actual (ES) and DCL Kultur (ES). The duo released their second single, 'sad song', on April 15, with equally enthusiastic reception. The next longer release is scheduled for autumn 2026. miaw have already performed at festivals such as ESNS, MIL Lisboa, O Salgado Faz Anos, by: Larm, Spot and Vegas Udvalgte, and have toured across Europe, sharing the stage with Acopia, Ultra Caro, Lyra Valenza and Jack J. The duo are preparing for an intense summer and an autumn with some international concerts, notably at Reeperbahn Festival and 8MM bar in Berlin. There are no seated or reserved places at Casa Capitão concerts. To guarantee a good position facing the stage, it is advisable to arrive early. And be ready to spend an hour or two standing.
