The artist investigates, especially through photography, personal and institutional archives of specific communities, which she presents in exhibitions and through catalogues of great graphic richness. In recent years, she has worked on the memory of some communities of Portuguese emigrants in the USA. One of these exhibitions (at Cinzeiro 8, Museu de Electricidade, 2011), entitled New World Parkville, resulted in a catalogue distinguished by critics. Her new proposal addresses an issue that cuts across contemporary art, related to some historical questions of post-colonialism. Through interviews and the collection of material, the artist literally portrays a group of paratrooper nurses of the Portuguese army who served in Africa in the 1960s and 1970s. Scenes of their professional lives and everyday life in Africa, moments of work and leisure. Once again, the aim is to record, recover and fix individual and collective memories of a professional group little studied and little known. Wednesday to Monday, from 10am to 7pm. A artista investiga, especialmente através da fotografia, arquivos pessoais e institucionais, de comunidades específicas, que apresenta em exposições e através de catálogos de grande riqueza gráfica. Nos últimos anos, tem trabalhado a memória de algumas comunidades de emigrantes portuguesas nos EUA. De uma dessas exposições (no Cinzeiro 8, Museu de Electricidade, 2011), intitulada New World Parkville resultou um catálogo distinguido pela crítica. A sua nova proposta aborda uma questão transversal à arte atual relacionada com algumas questões históricas do pós-colonialismo. Através de entrevistas e recolhas de material, a artista faz literalmente o retrato de um conjunto de enfermeiras paraquedistas do exército português de serviço em África, nas décadas de 60 e 70. Cenas da sua vida profissional e da vida quotidiana em África, momentos de trabalho e de lazer. Trata-se, mais uma vez de registar, recuperar e fixar memórias individuais e coletivas de um grupo profissional pouco estudado e pouco conhecido. Quarta a segunda, das 10h às 19h.
