In this time of regressive amnesia, Miguel Borges Coelho and Daniel Moreira revisit Fernando Lopes-Graça's piano, between modernism and the historical consciousness that, notably through what he designated as “authentic folklore”, so often nourished it. Interpretation and commentary come together in a lecture-recital organized around two cycles. The first, Oito Bagatelas (Eight Bagatelles) (1938, 1950), constitutes a true laboratory of the composer's modernist language; Onze Glosas (Eleven Glosses) (1950), the second, roots it, between lights and shadows, in the memory of the Portuguese popular songs that serve as the theme for each of its eleven pieces. The occasion is the launch of the book-CD Modernismo e folclore no piano de Fernando Lopes-Graça (Modernism and Folklore in Fernando Lopes-Graça's Piano), whose text takes those two cycles as its axis, while also making reference to the works that complete the recording, Segunda Sonata (Second Sonata), Três embalos (Three Lullabies) and Música Festiva nº 18 (Festive Music No. 18), For Miguel Borges Coelho's 18th birthday. - Miguel Borges Coelho - piano. - Essays by Daniel Moreira & Miguel Borges Coelho.
