The Dias de Marvila are back for their fourth edition, this year under the theme Freedom and Democracy. From October 7 to 11, the performing arts festival once again takes over the neighborhoods of the parish of Marvila, inviting creativity and community participation. With the Marvila Library as its meeting point and main stage, the event reaffirms its deep connection to the territory where it was born in 2017. For a week, the streets and neighborhoods of Marvila fill with life with a plural and free program that crosses traditional genres and emerging movements, with activities including theater, dance, music, performances, cinema, workshops, guided tours, exhibitions, among other activities. In theater, highlights include the play Jantar de Gala (Gala Dinner), by Teatro Meridional. In music, standout acts include the Coro de Marvila (Marvila Choir), the Rato Chinês concert and the Dancefloor da Liberdade (Dancefloor of Freedom) celebration. The seventh art makes its presence with the screening of the film O Palácio de Cidadãos (The Palace of Citizens), by Rui Pires. The program also includes urban art workshops, the photography exhibition Fragmentos de Liberdade (Fragments of Freedom) and guided tours about the industrial and housing history of the parish. The celebration ends on the 11th with the Trigalada dance, at Parque Urbano Mar & Vila. FS. Full program here. Free.
