Haunted by an enigmatic entity and guided by a deep belief, Klió becomes convinced that she can only free herself from the pain that permeates her existence if she offers something to the gods. How far will she go to break the cycle of violence? Drawing on Yoruba cosmology and mythical figures such as Medusa, Medea and Lilith, Cleo Diára, and her alter-ego Klió, offers us a reflection on being a Black Cape Verdean woman in a patriarchal world. Cléo Diára was born in 1987, in Praia, Cape Verde. Since 2015 she has participated as a performer in several shows by national directors, such as Mário Coelho, Mónica Calle, Pedro Baptista, Rogério Carvalho and Sónia Baptista. In 2020, she was awarded the Amélia Rey Colaço Grant to create the show Aurora Negra, with Isabél Zuaa and Nádia Yracema. Since then, the Aurora Negra collective has created Cosmos (Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, 2022) and Missão da Missão (Teatro do Bairro Alto, 2023). In 2025, she received the Best Actress award in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival for her performance in O Riso e a Faca, by Pedro Pinho. In 2026 she was selected for the European Shooting Stars programme.
