Synopsis Nivine Kallas SãHO ACCESSIBILITY Little/No text Nivine Kallas explores the resonances and points of tension between gesture and word. Her dance dialogues with the Arabic language, its script and rhythm, its inflections and silences. SaHO is the fruit of her experience in the Lebanese educational system, where language and discipline leave lasting marks on both body and memory. Rooted in a childhood marked by absence and silence, the piece takes up a recurring image: a classroom window through which the mind fled while the body remained confined. This work refers to a state of suspension in which the spirit wanders between repression and light, absence and lucidity. It is the art of disappearing to survive. A silent dissidence. Through a choreographic language that extends between collapse and elevation, the piece explores embodied forms of linguistic, social, and political repression. In contrast to such forces, it proposes a state of delicate trance, imagination, and escape. Here the body does not obey, it deviates. It does not represent, it rises. It does not interpret, it reflects. Nivine Kallas is a choreographer, actress, and practitioner of the martial art Wushu gun. Her work intertwines the Arabic language with bodily movement. Her choreographic approach dissolves the boundaries between rehearsal, improvisation, and performance in search of a raw and authentic presence.
