Guadalupe Plata has already spent twenty years pursuing an idea as simple as it is difficult to tame: playing music that is primitive, dark and immediately recognizable. From Úbeda, Pedro De Dios, guitar and vocals, and Carlos Jimena, drums, built a language in which Delta blues coexists with rock'n'roll, psychedelia, flamenco and popular music, without the seams showing. Around this music they built an imagery populated by snakes, cemeteries, razors, apparitions and doomed loves. Their songs start from the elementary forms of the blues, but transport them to a dry, nocturnal territory deeply rooted in the landscape, memory and speech of Andalusia. This rootedness, far from imposing borders on their music, has been one of the keys to their international reach. Guadalupe Plata have already played in more than twenty countries and territories, from the United States, Canada and Mexico to Brazil, Argentina and Chile, in addition to making regular tours across the United Kingdom, Central Europe and the Balkans.
