'Now the Sun Has Set' is the title of a folk song from north-western Portugal that was sung at the end of the working day. This lost tradition of marking the day through song and gesture is the starting point for a vocal choreography that reflects on states of vulnerability and fragility. The piece explores the physicality of calling songs, interjections and imitative sounds, inherited from labour practices and from life alongside animals. In this solo, the relationship between loss, time and ageing questions the possibilities of regeneration and community through dance as a vehicle of belonging, resistance and pleasure.
