An exhibition of three-dimensional works from the MACAM collection exploring balance, tension and transformation in space, with works by Portuguese and international artists and curated by Adelaide Ginga and Carolina Quintela.

Weight-Counterweight brings together a set of three-dimensional works from the MACAM collection that explore different forms of balance, tension and transformation in space. Organized around thematic nuclei—nature and abstraction, scale and resistance, cities and urbanism—the exhibition proposes a reflection on the forces that structure both the built and the natural world. Between references to architecture, urban expansion and the dynamics of collective life, the works reveal relationships of conflict, adaptation and permanence. The tension between materials, forms and scales evidences not only processes of physical, social and symbolic resistance, just as the observation of nature inspires exercises of synthesis, abstraction and formal reinvention. Through sculptures, installations and other three-dimensional proposals, Portuguese and international artists investigate concepts of weight and counterweight that go far beyond the material dimension of the works.
