Workshop on gold leaf application, inspired by the Museum of the Orient's collection. Includes observation of pieces and hands-on gold leaf application on various supports.
Brief Introduction With Laura Feteira* Schedule: 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Target audience: 16+ Participants: Min. 8 | Max. 15 This workshop will address the process of obtaining gold leaf, an element present in the decoration of folding screens and other pieces from the Museum of the Orient's collection. The activity includes applying gold leaf to papers of different weights, using photocopied images of some museum objects as a support. Participants who wish may bring one or two drawings, photographs or prints to enrich them with the application of gold leaf. Direct observation of pieces from the museum's collection complements the theoretical-practical component of the workshop. Objectives 1. To value the museum's collection through direct observation of pieces that show the use of gold leaf, relating technical aspects to historical and artistic contexts; 2. To learn about the process of obtaining gold leaf; 3. To apply gold leaf to images of museum objects or personal supports (drawings, photographs or prints), exploring their plastic and decorative potential. In case of cancellation: A full refund of the registration fee will be made when cancellation is communicated up to 8 working days before the activity. After that date, a refund can only be considered if the spot is filled or in situations of illness, accident, or other unforeseeable circumstances of force majeure, duly proven. If the activity does not take place due to lack of participants, or for another reason, the registration fee will be refunded in full. For more information contact *Cultural and Educational Mediator at the Condes de Castro Guimarães Museum, Municipality of Cascais (since September 2016), where she was responsible for the Museum's Educational Service (Jan 2022 - Mar 2026). There, she carried out collection research, design of playful and educational content, thematic visits, workshops and free courses; development of projects in partnership with schools in the district, and co-curation of exhibitions of the works. Design, organization and teaching of accredited long-term training actions (ALD), and credited for recruitment groups 240, 530 and 600, namely the courses As Viagens da Folha de Ouro, Em Transformação I, Da Linha à Mancha, Do Pé para a Mão; the workshop As Novas Viagens da Folha de Ouro. The short-duration action (ACD), validated, Recriar e Errar é Preciso, taught online. Trainer certification in the area and field of Graphic Arts/Visual Arts, with registration CCPFC/RFO-38920/2018 by the Scientific-Pedagogical Council for Continuing Education. Until August 31, 2016, she was a professionalized teacher of Secondary Education and the 3rd cycle in public schools, in educational establishments on the mainland and on the island of Madeira, and also at the Portuguese School of Luanda, Angola, teaching the subjects of Drawing A, Project Area, Art Workshop, and History of Culture and Arts in the Scientific-Humanistic Course of Visual Arts and in level IV professional courses. She held positions of pedagogical coordination, evaluation of teaching performance, direction of professional courses and class direction. Coordination of the Department of Expressions.
