The Regional Delegation of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area of BAD and Cascais City Council promote the 2nd Archives Meeting, dedicated to sharing experiences and discussing contemporary archival policies and practices.

The Regional Delegation, Lisbon Metropolitan Area, of the Portuguese Association of Librarians, Archivists, Information and Documentation Professionals (BAD), in partnership with Cascais City Council, will promote the 2nd Meeting of Archives of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. The Lisbon Metropolitan Area, comprising 18 municipalities where, according to the 2021 census, more than 2,870,000 inhabitants lived, brings together a set of archives that manage information essential for the administration of a large number of public and private entities, but also for the reconstitution of collective history. This Meeting, dedicated to sharing experiences on all types of archives, in a period marked by the reinforcement of the right of access to information, dematerialization of processes, increased digitization of documentation and encouragement of the creation of networks and new partnerships, will discuss the main policies and practices that guide contemporary archival science. The concepts of open access, transparency, cooperation, education, inclusion and creativity in archives of central and local administration and of associations, foundations and brotherhoods will thus guide a reflection and debate on the challenges of information professionals.
