With objects, testimonies, images and other records, the exhibition Um Lugar chamado Variedades (A Place Called Variedades) traces the one hundred years of history of the Teatro Variedades, from its inauguration, in 1926, to its reopening, in 2024. Coproduced by the Teatro Variedades and the Museu de Lisboa, the exhibition proposes a look at the building, the shows, the artists and the many people who were part of the life of this theatre. Among costumes, accessories, documents and sound memories, it also reveals less visible dimensions of the show, such as the work of the technical teams, the rehearsals and the Variedades's relationship with censorship, television and Lisbon society. The exhibition occupies the foyer, the lounge and the corridor of the first floor of the Teatro Variedades and is curated by José Daniel Ferreira, Mário Nascimento and Joaquim René. Monday to Saturday, from 12pm to 11pm, Sunday, from 12pm to 9pm. Guided visit: 17 October, at 3pm. Free with prior booking: [email protected]. Technical sheet: Curated by José Daniel Ferreira, Mário Nascimento and Joaquim René.
