Heith & Tarawangsawelas present Duori, the result of their long-distance collaboration blending Indonesian traditional instruments and electronics, in a night that also features Peruvian experimental artist Raúl Jardín.

Brief Introduction Heith & Tarawangsawelas Another world raised from a patient and mostly remote collaborative process over several years, after a fruitful first meeting in Bandung, Indonesia, in 2017, Duori claims itself, without much shame and with legitimacy, as 5th World Music, winking at Jon Hassell's legacy. With the imaginary neologism 'duori' suggesting a dimension somewhere between an inside and an outside, in tune with the project's own genesis, in that shared virtual existence of ideas and recordings flowing across distance and time, the music encapsulated in this release for Belgian STROOM.tv also exists outside geographical and temporal constraints. A fifth world born from the joint imagination of these two entities with different paths but equally given to exploring other (ir)realities: while Heith, the Italian Daniele Guerrini, has been reorganizing downtempo/trip-hop tropes, ECM-inherited ambiences, diffuse memories and an aura of mysticism impossible to place on records for his Haunter or on the imposing PAN. Kilometres and experiences away, and with a highly recommendable album on Rabih Beaini's Morphine — Wanci —, Tarawangsawelas has been reviving the legacy of sacred Tarawangsa music, from West Java, in minimalist and hypnotic gestures. From this cosmic alignment of sensibilities comes Duori, in a fairy-tale multicultural evocation, between the urban mirage and the temples of Bandung, in a benign collision of traditional Indonesian instruments and electronic processing that crosses notions of ancestry and future in a present without cartography that never succumbs to tourist voyeurism. BS ~ Raúl Jardín Raúl Gómez, better known as Raúl Jardín, is a Peruvian musician with a strong presence in experimental music in Lima since the late 1990s, when he founded the duo Jardín with Orlando Ramírez. With hypnotic rhythms and industrial textures, the duo quickly became a reference project in the emerging Peruvian experimental music scene, leading Raúl to perform at festivals in Peru, Chile, Argentina, Spain, Luxembourg and Portugal. In his work, Raúl Jardín explores the sonority of everyday life, creating compositions that evoke field recordings and soundscapes situated between the real and the imaginary — locomotives, spaceship battles, hammers, submarines in navigation or interrupted radio transmissions. As a solo artist, he also stands out in creating music for dance, theatre and opera, using a wide diversity of acoustic and electronic instruments.
