Guided tour of the exhibition 'Invoking Silence' at the Museu do Oriente, exploring biocultural harmony in Indonesia through silence.

Brief Introduction In 2026 we begin the programming cycle O Museu Convida, which celebrates different Asian countries and their festive dates, with the support of the respective Embassies. O Museu Convida also brings Asian production pieces from museums of the Portuguese Museum Network (RPM) and private foundations, placing them in dialogue with the collections of the Museu do Oriente. In September, we celebrate Indonesia, and the transversal importance of silence in its religious diversity and daily practices: silence as an ecological and cosmic ritual so that the earth and the cosmos regenerate, balance and synchronize, enabling harmony among humans, harmony with nature and with the cosmic and divine order. The exhibition Invoking Silence. Biocultural Balances in Indonesia explores silence as a space of community and harmony. The exhibition presents two guest pieces from the Museu das Convergências, in dialogue with rarely exhibited pieces from the Fundação Oriente collection.
