Portrait of Hélène Hazera, a key figure of French counterculture, LGBTQIA+ activist and founder of the Trans and AIDS Commission within Act Up. The documentary celebrates her victory over a life marked by the struggle for transition and her career as the first transgender woman journalist at Libération.

Synopsis Judith Abitbol (France, 2025, 94') Documentary. Original version in French, subtitled in English. 16+ Portrait of a key figure of French counterculture from the late 1960s to the 1990s. Member of the Gazolines, member of F.H.A.R. (Front Homosexuel d’Action Révolutionnaire) and tireless activist of the LGBTQIA+ community, Hélène Hazera founded the Trans and AIDS Commission within Act Up, one of her greatest sources of pride. Her other source of pride is her true victory over a life that began at a time when the desire and need to transition were far from accepted. She was the first transgender woman to work as a journalist at a major national daily, Libération, as a television director and as a producer at Radio France.
