Brief Introduction *With Carla Sofia Tuesday and Thursday 13.00 - 14.00 For ages 16 and over NOTE: For space management reasons, you must indicate the modality [in-person or online] at the time of registration. Oriental dance is a dance of women for women of all ages and body shapes. The main characteristic of this type of dance is the rhythmic movement of the hips and abdominal muscles. It consists of a series of movements of vibrations, accents, undulations, pelvic movements and rotations, which work the body as a whole. Combined with the music and a sinuosity similar to that of a serpent, these movements were originally an integral part of the fertility ritual and preparation for motherhood. Oriental dance promotes socialization, self-esteem, sensuality, strength, endurance, flexibility, coordination, body awareness and balance, providing a true inner journey. Above all, it allows us to discover that it is possible to have fun dancing, releasing and controlling the body at the same time, thus taking us on a path of personal enrichment through movement. The physical and emotional benefits of Oriental Dance make it an authentic therapy for body and mind. TESTIMONIALS FROM THE ORIENTAL DANCE STUDENTS OF THE MUSEU DO ORIENTE: When I dance I am surprised by the strength that is born in me. Oriental Dance is lightness - it takes us beyond ourselves. Oriental Dance awakens the GODDESS within me! Will there be anything more POWERFUL than that? It is more than a dance, it is pure MAGIC! Oriental Dance classes bring me many things: they help me stretch my back and breathe deeply, distract me from any worries I may have at that moment and give me a community with whom I can share the sensations and emotions brought by the dance. Oriental Dance is much more than the imaginary setting of the thousand and one nights, populated by women with bare bellies and faces covered by a veil. Oriental Dance is a process in which the body is always evolving in the mastery of technique and movement. At the same time, Oriental Dance opens a space within us, so that each dancer meets her deepest and dormant feminine root. And that is why it is important to dance! ONLINE FORMAT
