Musical program on the Passion of Christ, with polyphonic works from the 16th-century Portuguese Royal Chapel.

Synopsis This program proposes a listening of the sound and devotional universe of the Passion of Christ, as we can imagine it in the context of the 16th-century Portuguese Royal Chapel: at the center, the Chyrios das Trevas, the oldest polyphonic work with unequivocal origin in the Portuguese Royal Chapel (c. 1500), preserved as an appendix to a Cerimonial da Capela Real once belonging to Infanta D. Maria and now kept in the National Library of Naples. In dialogue with this central work, Iberian motets will be heard, opening a complementary view on the circulation of repertoires through manuscript sources, such as CIC 60 from the National Library of Lisbon. The concert takes place in a reduced lighting environment that evokes the liturgy of the shadows of the Easter Triduum.
