Disquiet is a new creation by Daniel Cardoso and Marcelino Sambé, inspired by Fernando Pessoa's Book of Disquiet, transforming the word into body and movement through two ballets.

A single show and work, built in two distinct ballets, revealing different ways of looking at Pessoa: intimate restlessness, the unfolding of the self, solitude and the multiplicity that run through his writing. Between the depth of literature and the expressiveness of dance, Disquiet invites the audience to dive into a sensory journey where thought and movement meet, giving new life to Pessoa's poetic universe through the contemporary language of the body. "This new creation takes the audience into the universe of ideas and infinite words. A world where imagination, consciousness, reflection, dreams, observations of daily life and states of mind intertwine like loose words from an inner diary. We dive into solitude, the awareness of existing and the difficulty of finding meaning in life. A work that, like the book, aims to address the discomfort of existing in a world where one privileges imagining life instead of living it fully, where dreams can be more intense than real experience itself. 'I carry all the dreams of the world within me.' A choreographic work that aims to be almost a mirror of the emotional state of the semi-heteronym Bernardo Soares: calm, dreamy, nostalgic, fragmented and restless. Elsewhere within stillness is a creation inspired by Fernando Pessoa's Book of Disquiet and the extraordinary depth the human mind can reach." Daniel Cardoso "I look at Fernando Pessoa as a virtuoso. I see the Book of Disquiet as the reflection of someone who possesses everything within themselves and, at the same time, nothing. The constant search for validation of our own existence is something deeply connected to this work. The darkness we find in our own reflection can become inhuman, and this continuous attempt to understand who we are and what we leave behind, in a world often empty, ends up making us find beauty in the simplest and most familiar things. I feel this process almost as an inversion... an attempt to find Fernando in a world that slowly disappears behind us and forces us to face a version of ourselves that perhaps only exists in that inverted place. Working on these themes with dancers makes me feel that there is no more truthful way to enter the parallel world to which the Book of Disquiet drags us... a space suspended between memory, absence and identity, where we are finally confronted with our collective emptiness, but also with the infinite beauty of existing."
