Two days of medieval activities at São Jorge Castle, with workshops, guided tours, concerts and family workshops.
Synopsis On September 26 and 27, Lisbon hosts the 2nd edition of the Days of the Middle Ages, an initiative dedicated to the valorization of medieval history, culture and heritage. Over two days, São Jorge Castle hosts a diverse programme of activities for all ages, directly inspired by this period of history. Workshops, guided tours and conversations with specialists, medieval music concerts, historical re-enactments and demonstrations, children's workshops and many other proposals invite the public to discover the richness of the Middle Ages in a participatory and engaging way. The Institute of Medieval Studies (NOVA FCSH), EGEAC / São Jorge Castle and the Lisbon City Council (GEO and CAL) have joined forces to promote this initiative, which aims to bring the public closer to medieval history and heritage. In addition to the playful component, the programme integrates a strong pedagogical dimension, with the participation of various specialists, with the aim of contributing to the deconstruction of preconceived ideas about the Middle Ages, particularly in the context of Lisbon's history. Aimed at all audiences, from history enthusiasts to families seeking a differentiating cultural experience, the Days of the Middle Ages propose an immersive journey into the medieval universe, through an accessible, rigorous and engaging approach.
