The 13th edition of Olhares do Mediterrâneo takes place under the theme Weaving Collective Stories. The works presented focus on the work of Portuguese and Mediterranean filmmakers, showing 81 films from 32 countries at Cinema São Jorge, Cinemateca Portuguesa, Casa do Comum, Goethe-Institut and Jardins do Bombarda. Slovenia, the guest country of this edition, has several films scheduled throughout the event and a cycle dedicated to its female cinema at the Cinemateca. The opening session presents, in national premiere, Life in a Beat, the first feature film by Greek director Amerissa Basta, a drama that follows, in Athens, a young supermarket worker and her daily struggle to live on the little she receives. Nomad Shadow, by Eimi Imanishi, a USA/France/Spain co-production, is the film that closes the festival. The story tells of the deportation of young Sarawi from Spain to Western Sahara, reflecting on the sense of belonging. The programme also includes conversations and debates and, for the first time, the newly created MUTIM prize is awarded for the best Portuguese school film with non-stereotyped stories and characters.
