Additional Information All Sessions: 19 September Ofiússa and Ulysses: the hidden legend of Lisbon The Enchanted Moorish Woman of the Mouraria Ofiússa and Ulysses and The Enchanted Moorish Woman of the Mouraria are the two tales that António Zito presents in the first session of the programme Lisbon Stories told by… an Italian. Long before Lisbon had its name, the banks of the Tagus belonged to Ofiússa, mysterious queen of the serpent people. When Ulysses, the hero of Ithaca, arrived at the mouth of the Tagus, he found in her an impossible love and an unexpected destiny. Between promises and farewells, one of the most beautiful legends about the mythical origin of Lisbon is born. In the Mouraria, when Lisbon was still a meeting of Christian and Islamic cultures, there lived a woman known as the Enchanted One. A wise woman and healer, she was sought out by those looking for protection and hope. Accused of witchcraft and condemned to death, she turned to stone at the final moment, becoming part of Lisbon's secret soul. Legend has it that her enchantment remains hidden in the streets of the Mouraria. 24 October Lisbon Aloud 21 November Atlantic Heart 12 December Lisbon Things 16 January Noir Lisbon 27 February Lisbon Is Us Prices General - €4
