Sunday Is at the Quinta

Sunday 25 October

Quinta Alegre - Um Teatro em Cada Bairro, Lisbon

With music, food and the experience of learning to create something new, Sunday, October 25th, is a day full of reasons to come to Quinta Alegre and spend one or several hours. Once a month, there is a visit, workshops for adults and children, including a cooking workshop to cook a meal, and then taste it. At the end of the afternoon, there is a concert to close the day and start a new week. Sunday is at Quinta Alegre. Program. Visit to Quinta Alegre. Azulejos, the frescoes, doors that open from one room to another, the large windows overlooking the gardens. A route through the interior of the palace and through the history of this place, inhabited in different ways over time. In recent months, the Quinta Alegre team has delved into old and more recent memories of this place and has prepared a new cycle of visits that premieres on this day. 10am. Garden of Shadows. Workshop for families (children from 6 years old). A workshop about shadows, silhouettes and gardens. In this workshop two ingredients will not be missing: light (lights) and elements of nature, hand-picked to discover and create a beautiful garden of shadows! With Porta Amarela (Alexandra Pereira). 11:30am. Cachupa. Workshop for adults. Sandra Furtado is of Cape Verdean descent and a skilled cook. She brings the ingredients and seasonings and shares the secrets of her delicious cachupa. Those who participate learn, try making it and then enjoy the meal. A pretext to use one more room of Quinta Alegre, the kitchen, remembering that cooking and sharing recipes are always collective experiences. 11:30am. Kintsugi. Workshop for adults (from 16 years old). In this Japanese restoration technique that is over a thousand years old, ceramic pieces are repaired with gold powder. The imperfections that are part of the piece's life are not covered up but highlighted, gaining a new history made of delicate lines. Participants can bring a piece to restore. With Casa Nic and Inês. History is also seen. Workshop for adults. Based on a selection of documents from the Lisbon Municipal Archive, we will discover and decode the changes made in Charneca and thus rekindle the memories of those who knew the past of this place. It is an invitation to a conversation where experiences are shared, memories recalled, places and moments identified, and the stories that the images evoke for participants are unraveled.

With the team from the Lisbon Municipal Archive, in parallel to the street exhibition O Lugar da Charneca, which can be visited outdoors, near Quinta Alegre, next to the Church of São Bartolomeu. 3:30pm. Concert with Paula Oliveira (voice) and Ricardo Dias (electric piano). In the history of music there are many examples of women who played and wrote, however, one must dig deep to reach their names. In the concerts that close these Sundays, the name of women comes first: defying second place, they take the lead or perform solo. The curation of this cycle is by Márcia Lessa. 5:30pm. All activities require prior booking by email or phone. Registrations and reservations: [email protected] 218 174 040. Free.
