A tragicomedy written by Patrícia Portela (recently awarded the Grande Prémio de Romance e Novela da Associação Portuguesa de Escritores for the book Manual para andar espantada por existir) based on Shakespeare's King Lear is the first major proposal from the theatre company A Barraca for the new season, in the year it marks half a century of activity. Maria do Céu Guerra and Maria Rueff star in a variation of the King's relationship with the Fool, in a play that, between comedy and drama, addresses many of the ills of our time, namely war, indifference, old age and abandonment. The action takes place on New Year's Eve when, due to a breakdown in the car that was supposed to take her to a New Year's Eve performance, a comedian crosses paths with an old aristocrat who wanders, lost and abandoned, near a service area.
