DEAD POET SOCIETY return to Portugal on 21 January 2027, with a concert scheduled at LAV, Lisboa ao Vivo. The American band, who released their second full-length record, titled 'Fission', in January 2024 through Spinefarm Records, return to Lisbon at a time when their presence in Europe has been consolidating in an increasingly consistent way, and already with an established relationship with the Portuguese audience. Formed in Boston in 2013, DEAD POET SOCIETY — Jack Underkofler on vocals and guitar, Jack Collins on guitar, Dylan Brenner on bass and Will Goodroad on drums — have followed a path that defies the usual logic of ascent in alternative rock. Before gaining any significant attention in the American market, it was the Mexican audience who first embraced them, after discovering the band through a blog. Seven tours of Mexico followed, some of them as headliners, playing small venues for a fan base built concert by concert and without any support from radio stations or significant media coverage. Recognition in the United States came years later, when they performed as the support band for Andrés and, later, with Badflower in 2019. It was precisely those intense years on the road that shaped what they are today live: a group with the physical pragmatism of those who learned their craft on small stages and in difficult venues. As a result, DEAD POET SOCIETY have gradually become a name to reckon with for those who appreciate more 'out of the box' rock, and 'Fission', still their most recent album, meant that, for the first time, music critics began to treat them as something more than an interesting proposition with obvious references. Occupying a space of their own within alternative rock, the quartet's music crosses influences ranging from garage to progressive. At the centre of this distinctive identity is Jack Collins' fretless guitar, complemented by Underkofler's versatile voice, capable of alternating between moments of restraint and passages of greater intensity without ever losing consistency. Now, with a new album on the horizon, anticipated by the recent release of the singles 'Sinner Systems' and 'Roach', DEAD POET SOCIETY's return to Lisbon fits into a European trajectory that the musicians have been deepening even more evidently since the release of 'Fission'.
